Exhibition of 68 photographs at the Conseil Départemental des Vosges in Épinal (88)

Sensitive to the development of artistic creation in visual arts in its territory, the Departmental Council of Vosges hosts exhibitions within the Hotel du Département throughout the year. The aim of this action is to make known artists from the Vosges region.

Thus, Jackdal, will exhibit his works in the hall of the Hotel du Département from February 15, 2021 to June 11, 2021.

A great opportunity to discover or rediscover the Vosges artist who works mainly black and white photography, giving his images a certain timelessness.
Show what is not necessarily visible, the emotion of a moment, the fugacity of a situation, reflect on …

In this life that goes too fast, Jackdal leads the viewer to take the time to look and think. In order to get the message across, his photographs are always accompanied by a short text: «This is my trademark, preferably humorous», explains the photographer. Precise framing, natural light and black and white, give strength and meaning to the artist’s gaze.
Some photos are particularly graphic, so many works where the world around us copies the work of the painter for who knows how to see it.
The past, magnified in the manner of Robert Doisneau or Henri Cartier-Bresson, offers a joyful nostalgia to his audience.

“I had a little Kodak instamatic around 8 years old. You know, the one with the little cube flash above…the click actually!” explains the 54-year-old from Vittello whose brilliant career, already punctuated by 10 years of exhibitions in the four corners of the department, has allowed him to win various awards. If the elderly and children are his favourite subjects, it is undoubtedly because they illustrate, with great optimism, the depth and fragility of life and the world. Time passes, photography stops him and other beauties appear.

Opening according to sanitary standards at the Departmental Council of Vosges - 8, rue de la Préfecture in Epinal, from Monday to Friday from 9h to 12h and from 14h to 16h30.
